Loch Ness
Loch Ness is approximately 24 miles long and over 750 feet deep and Fort Augustus lies at the southern end. Boat trips along Loch Ness can be taken from the bottom of the staircase locks in the middle of the village. The Royal Scott makes hourly trips through the summer and Augusta Boat Services provide cruises which can include fishing trips. There are many walks from which fantastic views of Loch Ness can be gained, the main one being the Great Glen way which can be used to extend the West Highland way as far as Inverness. Boating holidays are a great way to experience the whole of the Great Glen and of course you should always keep a look out for the legendary Loch Ness monster affectionately known as Nessie.
